Thomas J. Kelley,
Chairman of the Board
|A member of the board since 2005, Mr. Kelley was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors in October
after serving as Vice Chairman since March of 2018. He also serves as Chair of the Audit Committee
and as a member of the Executive
Committee and the Nominating & Governance Committee. Kelley was a former Managing Partner of the
Eastern European office of Arthur Andersen and former instructor in the Department of Accounting at
Seattle University’s Albers
School of Business.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Brent Beardall is the President & Chief Executive Officer of WaFd Bank. Mr. Beardall joined WaFd
Bank in 2001 as Vice President & Controller. In 2003, he was promoted to Chief Financial
Officer, a position he served in for
eleven years prior to being assigned to his current role with responsibility for all client-facing
activities of the bank. He was awarded the title of President in 2016. On April 1, 2017, he became
only the sixth CEO in the bank’s
100 year history.
David Grant joined the WaFd Bank board of directors September, 2012. Grant is the Managing Partner of
Catalyst Storage Partners, a privately-held international firm specializing in self-storage
development, investment and consulting. Prior
to forming Catalyst, Grant spent 20 years with Shurgard Storage Centers, a NYSE-traded Real Estate
Investment Trust that owned and operated a portfolio of over 600 properties. Grant began his career
as a Certified Public Accountant
in 1975 with Touche Ross & Co, where he worked until joining Shurgard in 1985.
Barbara L. Smith, Ph.D.
|Director; Owner Barbara Smith Consulting since 1992 providing expertise in leadership development,
strategic planning, group dynamics, organization change and executive coaching. Ms. Smith has a Ph.D. in
organizational psychology from the
University of Washington and has taught classes at the University of Washington and Seattle University
in these subjects. Her background is most useful to the board in assessing the leadership ability of
management, the health of the corporate
culture and overall effectiveness of the organization.
Mark N. Tabbutt
Mark N. Tabbutt, Chairman of Saltchuk since October 2008. Saltchuk is a Seattle‐based family of
transportation and distribution companies focused on North America and is one of the largest
privately held companies in the State of Washington.
Mr. Tabbutt has experience in acquisitions, strategic planning, financing, capital allocation and
managing a diversified group of companies. Mr. Tabbutt joined the WaFd Bank board, March of 2011. He
is also a member of the Board of
Directors of the Greater Seattle YMCA.
Randy H. Talbot
|Randall H. Talbot, a WaFd Bank Director since July, 2012, has been the Managing Director of Talbot
Financial LLC, an investment advisory firm, since 2010. Mr. Talbot served as Director, CEO and President
of Symetra Financial Corporation from
2004 to June, 2010, and as Director of Concur Technologies, Inc. from March 2008 to November, 2014. Mr.
Talbot joined the former parent of Symetra Financial Corporation, Safeco Corporation, in 1998 and from
1998 to 2004 served as President
of Safeco Life Insurance Company.
|Steve Singh, who joined the WaFd Bank board of directors in August, 2018, is the Chief Executive Officer
and Chairman of the Board at Docker, an innovative cloud technology company based in San Francisco. Mr.
Singh is best known as the CEO
and Co-Founder of Concur Technologies, a Bellevue, Washington based travel and expense management
company. He built Concur into an enterprise success over the course of 20 years before selling to SAP in
2014. Singh is also Executive Chairman
of Center, a financial software company. Singh holds various leadership roles in other technology
companies and community organizations.
Stephen M. Graham
|Stephen M. Graham joined the WaFd Bank Board of Directors in April 2019. As Managing Partner of Fenwick
& West LLP in Seattle, former Partner at Orrick and Perkins Coie, and a graduate of Yale Law School,
Mr. Graham brings over forty years
of experience representing public and private corporations in mergers, acquisitions, and strategic
planning. Mr. Graham served for six years as a co-chair of the SEC Advisory Committee on Small and
Emerging Companies and is currently serving
on the Board of Directors at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
|Linda Brower is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Administration Officer at WaFd Bank from
2003 until her retirement in 2016. Her extensive banking career spans four decades including past
leadership roles at Bank of America and
